DREAM ITINERARIES

The water bursts out of the rocks high above, springing out of mountain shouts, transforming itself into a thousand waterfalls, inside of clouds made of small drops of water which we find under the arches digged in the dolomia stone: this show can be compared to the karstic phenomena.
Divided into Higher, Middle and Lower Waterfalls, they are linked among them by pieces of plains where the stream Vallesinella runs through, and reaching a total extention of no more than a kilometre. A path climbs up along their course, from mound to mound, up to the larch wooden bridges, from where you can enjoy peculiar views and inspiring panoramas.
You may reach them on foot from Madonna di Campiglio, taking the sentiero dell’orso (Bear’s Path) in località Palù at the very beginning of the asphalt road for Vallesinella.
Within an hour and fifteen minutes quiet walk, under the slopes of Mount Spinale, you get to the great pastures of Malga Vallesinella Alta, passing through alpine flowers such as the lily of the valley, orchids, the forget-me-not and a wonderful beech forest. Right on its edge, below the cattleshed you find “il sentiero delle cascate” (Waterfalls’ Path) that leads you directly till the Higher Waterfalls. You walk along it downhill from one jump of water to another, until your reach the plain, then you continue on to the Vallesinella Hut.From the terrace here you can also
admire the Lower Waterfalls. An easy walk through very old beeches leads you back to Madonna di Campiglio.
Destination of a summer hiking that leads you through easy paths, the Cascate di Vallesinella become, during the winter, an exclusive reserve for those who do not want to practice an easy type of sports.
For ice-climbing enthusiasts, as a matter of fact, Cascate di Mezzo are indeed a must, as they offer the rare experience of walking among iced pipes and large steps made of rock.
