“I like thinking of the Dolomites as a vast
turbolent sea; chasing rippled waves, sometimes vicious, some others
nosy, loaded with life to offer to the world. The beauty of it all
is being able to stay afloat and find out that, once reached the
top, you can even fly.” Matteo Boato, 2006 | |
A TOUCH OF MAGIC Gnomes, elves of the wood and fairies of the
mountains, gave us the idea. Nevertheless, once this publishing
project started taking form, many have been the doubts, and a
little wise voice inside our heads asked us: “With all the
means of communication we have nowadays, are you really sure it
is a good idea to propose another one?”
Suddenly a fairy from the waterfalls appeared and
reminded us what a tourist had recently said: “The
waterfalls Cascate di Mezzo in Vallesinella are wonderful!
They are a lot better than the Niagara Falls, but I had never
                heard of them before”.
Right, but...what? Still the difficulties would come along
to dissuade us from setting out on this adventure.
And again, gnomes and fairies would make us see small
and great mysteries to be revealed, again the echoes
of their voices would suggest us facts and things
 to talk about.
Some friend, struck by the fairies of the mountains, has
already started to see L’eco delle Dolomiti descending
through the valleys, reaching the plains and from here
flying all around the world, to make the Dolomites,
Madonna di Campiglio and the sorrounding area known everywhere.
Well, this Eco will speak three languages, will talk about culture
and sports, and above all will talk about the magic of places
born from mountains emerged from the sea, rich with fossil shells
and petrified corals, facing granitic mountains, the massive beds
                for perpetual glaciers.
The Brenta and Adamello Groups are there, day after day, one in
front of the other, protecting the enchanted life which bursts
everyday in the valley below, between the difficulties of the
climate and the lack of space, a life that escapes and then comes
back, magically supported by elves of the forests, by the fairies,
by the gnomes who, all together have told us they want L’eco
delle Dolomiti in order to pass on to humans their secrets, their
truths, the possibility of a life worth living, not merely dreamt
                of.
 Enjoy the reading!
