NUMBER 10

THE DANTE ALIGHIERI SOCIETY OF BOLZANO NETWORKING
WITH OTHER DANTE ALIGHIERI COMMITTEES IN ITALY AND ABROAD

Following the Society’s 79th Congress in 2009 in Bolzano and Merano, the Dante Alighieri Society of Bolzano has begun to establish contacts with committees both in Italy and abroad to promote the Italian language and culture.
The Dante Alighieri Society of Bolzano had already been collaborating with the Committees of Merano and Trento. Following the Congress it organised a photographic exhibition of the artist Ivan Marignoni in Berlin. In March of 2010 an exhibition about the First World War, curated by Luigi Berbenni, was mounted in Bolzano in collaboration with the Dante Alighieri Committee of Venice and the City of Jesolo.
The two other key events organised this year were the “Talenti export” in Copenhagen and the “Aria di Liguria” (A Sense of Liguria) exhibition in Bolzano.
The Italian Institute of Culture in Copenhagen, Denmark played host to an event entitled "Talenti Export" from 8 October to 11 November, staged in association with the city's Dante Alighieri Society. The aim of the event was to introduce the young talents of Alto Adige and was promoted by the chairman of the Bolzano committee, Giulio Clamer, in association with the Department of Cultural Services of the Province of Bolzano. On Friday 8 October a conference was held by Antonio Lampis, Chairman of the Province’s Department of Italian Culture. Entitled “Alto Adige: autonomy and peculiarity”, the event saw the launch of a photographic exhibition “Transitando” (Transiting) by Nicolò Degiorgis which focussed on the cultural undertones that are a characteristic of Alto Adige. The second event in Copenhagen took place on Friday 15 October with the reading and visual reading of “Il regno dei Fanes” (The kingdom of Fanes) - a legend that is dear to the heart of the people of the Dolomites - with the voice of Chiara Visca, the artwork of Armin Barducci and the music of Roberta Montisci. The series of events concluded on Thursday 11 November with a jazz concert by the Gruppo Satiek who performed a number of pieces of Italian popular and folk music. The event in Copenhagen, which ran for over a month, was a resounding success with audiences who were often unable to get seats at the Italian Institute of Culture.
The “Aria di Liguria” (A Sense of Liguria) exhibition, which proved decidedly original, opened on Friday 15 October 2010 at the Servicemen’s Club in Bolzano and presented a lavish array of artistic, literary and gastronomic products from Savona’s culture. The exhibition, which ran for one week, featured the San Giorgio ceramics of Albissola Marina, ancient cooking pots reappraised by the designer Roberto Giannotti, ceramics that depicted the Divine Comedy, a presentation of the book entitled “Pesto and Buridda” written by the maestros of Ligurian cuisine, a presentation of works about Ligurian culture by Sergio Giuliani and G. Venturino, watercolours by the renowned painter G. Venturino and to top it all, an in depth introduction to Ligurian food and wine products. The event was attended by a representative delegation from the Dante Alighieri Society of Savona, lead by its exceptional chairwoman, Anna Maroscia. The delegation introduced the citizens of Bolzano to the cultural distinctiveness of Savona, a city of aromas, flower and splendid buildings which it was possible to admire through the screening of a wonderful video presentation. The speeches, delivered by Anna Maroscia, the artist and architect Roberto Giannotti and other respected representatives of the Savona’s Dante Alighieri Society, thrilled the audience and prompted a fervent desire to repay the visit. The musical entertainment and traditional food of Liguria all made for an unforgettable evening.
It is important to acknowledge the Patronage of the Regional Authority of Liguria, the Municipality of Savona, and the Provincial and Municipal authorities of Bolzano.
