THE ACADEMY OF THE MOUNTAINS OF TRENTO
The ‘Academy of the Mountains of Trento’ (‘Accademia della montagna del Trentino’) Foundation has begun its work on the Autonomous Province of Trento with the aim of promoting a knowledge of the mountain region and furthering the historical, cultural, social, economic and sporting significance of its alpine, skiing and excursion activities.
The work of this body, set up by the Provincial Council, is aimed primarily at developing and fostering the activity in the mountain region, not to mention the setting up of qualified educational programmes intended for those professionals associated with the world of the mountains and to improve the standards of Trento’s tourist amenities. The Foundation also works alongside the Autonomous Province of Trento's Education Authority to provide professional training courses, offering both specialist and permanent development opportunities. It also works on the promotion of all those projects and activities designed to encourage people to visit the mountains and take part in mountain sports and attention is focused in particular on schools.
In addition to the involvement of the Autonomous Province of Trento’s, the work of the ‘Academy of the Mountains of Trento’ also has the active participation of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture, the Provincial Committee of Alpine Guides , the Provincial Committee of Ski Instructors, the Association of Escorts for Trento, the Association of Trento Ski Instructors, the Association of Mountain Shelter Operators and the University of Trento.
Its President, appointed by the Leader of the Autonomous Province, is Egidio Bonapace, with Anastasia Cigolla occupying the post of Vice President and Iva Berasi that of Director. Giuseppe Pinter, Walter Vidi and Luciano Maturi are members of the Board of Management that is flanked by a scientific committee whose members, Adriano Dalpez, Claudio Ambrosi, Paolo Tosi and Annibale Salsa act as the Foundation’s scientific and cultural advisors. Nicola Cozzio, representing the Association of Escorts for Trento, Ezio Alimonta, representing the Association of Mountain Shelter Operators, and the Rector of the University of Trento are also members of the Foundation.
